Rhonda’s Story

Rhonda attends Acoustic Target Shooting at Cecil Park most weeks – and is supported by BCD to do this. The sport is solely for the Blind/Vision Impaired and works totally on sound. The shooter wear a head-set that is connected to a special scope which signals an increasing tone when they are targeting the bullseye.

Rhonda enjoys target shooting immensely – and has become an expert markswoman. She regularly scores 389+ /400 – using an inferior scope and air rifle. The sport has just been accepted into the Paralympic sports for Tokyo and Rhonda now has her sights (so to speak) set on going to the Olympics! However, to attain her goal – she needed to purchase better equipment, which was expensive and beyond her means.

To help Rhonda reach new heights – BCD worked with her to arrange a fundraising event- a Trivia night! After 5 months of intense planning, the Trivia night was held and rasied just over $10,000!! There was a lot of hard work behind the scenes – but we coudln’t have been prouder of Rhonda and her enthusiasm and drive for the sport.

Rhonda was thrilled with the outcome from the Trivia night – and now has her new scope and can’t wait for a new rifle that is being made and shipped all the way from Germany.

Good luck with your next goal Rhonda!
