BCD: Celebrating 22 Years of Locals Supporting Locals
Reading time: 2 mins
Better Care Delivered has been on an incredible journey over the past 22 years.
As we celebrate this milestone, we take a look back at our story, one built on passion, caring for our community, and a commitment to making a difference.
From humble beginnings to becoming a key part of local communities, BCD has become a registered NDIS and Home Care Provider and is accredited by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care and NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission to support older people and those living with a disability to get the right care and remain living safely in their homes.
Our vision of locals supporting locals helps our customers, their carers, and families to choose the care they want when and where they need it most. Creating a meaningful connection has always been at the core of our why…..

Our story begins in 2003
Every great journey starts with an idea, and ours was no different. In 2003, BCD was established by a local nurse, who on seeing the limited care options available in the community, decided to do something about it.
With a small but dedicated team, BCD started as BCD Aged Care based in the Southern Highlands supporting older people and those living with a disability. It wasn’t easy, but our passion to support people in living their best lives kept the team going.
Key Milestones: How We’ve Grown Over the Years
2003 A Big First Step
BCD was created in response to the limited care options available in the Southern Highlands. Seeing a real need in the community, we set out to create a service providing quality, compassionate care, ensuring locals had the support they deserve. The business was registered as BCD Aged Care Pty Ltd
2009: Expanding Our Reach
Six years after starting BCD, our services expand further with funding from the Department of Families, Home Care Service and Indigenous Affairs to provide services to mental health carers in addition to a consortium partnership.
2012: Became a registered non-for-profit organisation, BCD Community Care Incorporated
To better serve the community, in 2012, BCD became a registered not-for-profit organisation, allowing us to focus entirely on delivering high-quality care and support where it's needed most.
2014: Successful Accreditation with NSW Ageing and Disability and Home Care.
Achieving accreditation was a testament to our commitment to quality, providing recognition of the high standards we uphold in delivering care.
2016: NDIS National Rollout, BCD registers as a charity
With the national rollout of NDIS, BCD became a registered NDIS Provider helping people living with disabilities to achieve their goals, grow their independence, and enjoy a life full of possibilities. Strengthening our commitment to community, BCD registered as a charity with The Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission (ACNC).
2018: 25,000 hours of care delivered, BCD doubles in size
In 2018, BCD purchased Macarthur Respite Choices, an approved NDIS Disability Service Provider, bringing shared values, a wealth of knowledge, passion and skills under one roof to deliver 25,000 hours of care within the community.
2020: The Pandemic
The world stood still as COVID19 interrupted our daily lives. As an essential service, BCD continued to support the most vulnerable in our community. The pandemic tested us in ways we never imagined, but we came through it stronger—more connected, more adaptable, and more determined than ever.
2021: Growth into Western Sydney and Goulburn
As demand for our services grew, we expanded into new suburbs and areas in Western Sydney and Goulburn, ensuring more local communities have access to the quality care and support they deserve. Our successful Contact Assessment for Aged Care Services in 2021 was recognition of our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality care and upholding the highest standards in everything we do By continuously expanding our knowledge and expertise through the implementation of the Senior Care Worker Model, we strengthened our ability to deliver high-quality, person-centred care
2022: First Respite Home in Menangle, NSW Opens
Our first respite home in The Meadows at Menangle opens, our spacious home is nestled amongst a green landscape. Respite, short-term accommodation and supported independent living gives families a much-needed break while helping individuals live more independently and feel connected to a supportive community. BCD achieved successful NDIS recertification and relocates our Support Office to the Campbelltown Health precinct.
2023: 20 Years Of Service Milestone & Focus On In House Clinical Care & Nursing Services
We celebrated 20 years of service to the community in 2023. To reconnect to our mission and purpose, we co designed our new and updated BCD values of Kindness, Trust, Passion and Leadership with our customers, staff and the BCD Board. Recognising the increasing demand for nursing services in our community, we further expanded our nursing team and capabilities to provide high-quality, in-house clinical care to those who need it most.
2024: 76,685 hours of care delivered, 4 Supported Independent Living Homes open
2024 was a big year for BCD with 76,685 hours of care delivered and 614 clinical services conducted. We also opened two more dedicated respite homes and accommodation where we supported over 30 people towards their independent living goals. BCD achieved a successful Department of Health and Aged Care Quality Audit outcome. This achievement reinforces our focus on excellence in care, giving customers and their families confidence in the quality and reliability of our services and Care workers. We’re proud of our 97% customer retention rate and 98% staff retention rate, reflecting our commitment to delivering quality care, nurturing strong relationships, and creating a thriving workplace culture for our team.
2025: Looking to the Future
Fast forward to today, and BCD is proud to have delivered over 76,685 hours of care with
614 clinical services conducted.
Our BCD team is now a key part of local communities, supporting customers in Macarthur, Camden, Campbelltown, Wollondilly, Fairfield, Liverpool, Wingecarribee through to Shoalhaven, Marulan, and Goulburn.
While much has changed since 2003, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality services that help individuals to build their capacity, independence, and happiness.
Looking ahead, whether it's the introduction of the new Support at Home program in July 2025 or celebrating a customer reaching a personal milestone, we’re excited about supporting people to live their best lives and grow our community impact.
